The core of our technology is to make use of resources and our ambition is to waste as little as possible. Our solutions make it possible to utilize organic waste from, for example, food production, which means that we can contribute to a more sustainable consumption where nothing is wasted unnecessarily "

Our work with Agenda 2030

The basic idea behind Biofrigas was to reduce the carbon footprint in the world, which is an idea that to a very high degree lives on and characterizes daily operations. In connection with the addition of new employees in 2020, new ideas and perspectives were added on how we should conduct our own sustainability work, and important steps were taken during the year to develop this. Like other listed companies, we live with the increased expectations of taking responsibility for our impact. Above all, we choose to focus on our positive contribution to a sustainable society and have chosen to integrate our sustainability work with Agenda 2030. A central starting point in this has been our values and the sustainability issues that are central to our industry, but we have also made special efforts. focus on how the 17 global development goals have been linked to our business. From this, we have then selected four global development goals with associated sub-goals that we feel best align with our work today and our ambitions in the long run.

Our carbon footprint

We are currently mapping the greenhouse gas emissions we generate in our operations as well as the emission savings we make when our products are used. We use calculation tools developed by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and the World Resources Institute (WRI). The emission categories used are explained by the figure below.

Scope 1: Direct emissions are not applicable as we do not own our own factories and business premises but work together with more partners for manufacturing and work in rented premises.
Scope 2: Indirect emissions caused by purchased electricity, heating, cooling for own use in daily operations are limited to a few tons of CO2-equivalents in 2022.
Scope 3: Indirect upstream and downstream emissions. This also includes business trips for the own staff as well as trips to and from work and purchases of capital goods of various kinds such as computers, telephones, coffee and more. These emissions are well below 10 tonnes of CO2-equivalents for 2022. Upstream emissions from subcontractors, which includes production facilities and input materials, are we currently mapping and this is an extensive work that has started and will continue for a long time. Scope 3 also includes the effects of the use of sold products and there we will contribute with "negative emissions" as the products in their use displace fossile diesel. In this part, CryoSep contributes about -500 tons of CO2 equivalents per year, which gives about -10,000 tons during its lifetime. Corresponding values for CryoSep P are approximately -2,600 tons per year and approximately -52,000 tons during its lifetime.

Towards continuous improvement

By choosing to align our sustainability strategy with the UN's Agenda 2030, we have begun a journey towards improving both our own operations and not least how we can make it easier for our future customers to develop their sustainability work. 2020 is the first step on this journey and the continued work in the coming years means that we will expand and deepen our methods regarding, for example, measurement and follow-up. We are aware of the challenges this entails for us both strategically and in everyday life. Our intention is to set clear, measurable and timed goals, both based on Agenda 2030 and specifically linked to our business, which will help us on the path to continuous improvement.

Our chosen global development goals

OBJECTIVE 7: SUSTAINABLE ENERGY FOR EVERYONE

Our technology and core product is based on safeguarding the value of residual products and thereby making it possible to replace fossil energy with non-fossil energy. By making this technology both accessible and easy to use, we contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy in society.

OBJECTIVE 8: DECENT WORKING CONDITIONS AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

Through our solutions, we offer the market an efficient way to develop its sustainability work. At the same time, our own approach to how we produce and consume resources must be characterized by efficiency, environmental awareness and restraint. At present, there is still a lot of work to be done to achieve this, but our ambition is to ensure that the impact of our operations on the climate is as low as possible.

OBJECTIVE 9: SUSTAINABLE INDUSTRY, INNOVATIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Biofrigas is a development-intensive company and our entire business is focused on developing a modern and accessible technology that will contribute to a more sustainable industry and infrastructure in society. Through our solutions, we create opportunities for both vehicles and heating to be operated in a circular manner.

OBJECTIVE 12: SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION

The core of our technology is to make use of resources and our ambition is to waste as little as possible. Our solutions make it possible to utilize organic waste from, for example, food production, which means that we can contribute to more sustainable consumption where nothing is thrown away unnecessarily. Because our technology is also easy to apply, more people can have the opportunity to introduce more sustainable production methods and at the same time gain access to fuels that further reduce the business' carbon footprint.
