Get to know our CEO Jonas Stålhandske

Can you tell us a bit about your role and what you do here at the company?
I'm a bit of a jack-of-all-trades, you could say, but I mainly work with sales and marketing. The role of CEO in a small company is very varied and can be about anything. No two days are the same.

What is the best thing about working at Biofrigas?
We are creating something that is good for our climate. In an impact company of this type, we can make a big difference to the climate and that feels really good. One of our plants can help us avoid 50,000 tonnes of CO2 over the life of the product.

What does a typical working day look like for you?
I work a lot with customer dialogues of various kinds and calculate a lot about how our plant can make a difference for them. Otherwise, it can be anything from production and technical issues to discussions with shareholders. Some time is also spent on reporting to the stock exchange. There is of course a lot of email & phone, team meetings and personal meetings and networking events. I spend some time following statistics on how the industry is developing. I am a member of a number of organisations that work with lobbying and information dissemination about biogas both in Sweden and internationally.

What are the biggest challenges in your job, and what do you like most about solving them?
In a small company there are always different types of challenges, what is most satisfying is that we can immediately adapt, change working methods or processes to solve the problems and the feedback is immediate. We don't have to rely on a large organisation to change.

What inspires you in your work?
Making a difference to the climate, creating jobs and seeing something grow and establish itself.

What do you like to do when you are not working? Any hobbies or interests?
Now that the last of the children have left home, there is suddenly a lot of time left for other things. Skiing is a great passion that has always existed and that my wife and I like to devote ourselves to, right now it's also a little silversmithing that applies. Then there are always things to do in the house at home.

How do you stay motivated and engaged in your work?
Motivation and commitment are fuelled when we move on to new levels. When something I've been working on for a long time ‘unravels’ and I can move on to the next thing.

Can you tell us about something fun or unexpected you have experienced at work?
Several times over the years I've had team meetings with customers when they're sitting in a tractor and driving the spring crop, for example. It is a new experience that is completely new to me and I have gained a wonderful insight into the everyday life of farmers.

If you could describe your job in three words, what would they be?
Never give up.
