Article in LAND Lantbruk: Milk trucks will soon be able to refuel with biogas on the farm

On farmer Dan Waldemarsson's farm outside Habo, the first test refuelling of liquid biogas (LBG) has been carried out in one of Arla's milk trucks. This is the result of a new, patented technology from Biofrigas, which makes it possible to produce and refuel liquid biogas directly at farm level.

The facility is significantly smaller than today's large LBG facilities and combines upgrading and liquefaction of biogas in the same process. The technology is patented in the United States and patent pending in Europe and Asia.

Erik Fromell, CEO of Biofrigas, emphasises the novelty and potential of the technology:
‘This is a local solution. It is the first of its kind in this size that upgrades and liquefies biogas in the same process.’

The technology enables smaller producers to switch to producing liquid biogas as fuel for heavy vehicles, a sector that is more difficult to electrify.
